Messy Fischy
We've enjoyed many a successful visit from Fischy Music over the years, and there's great news.... they're coming back on Saturday 25th September to join in our family fun day. Its being held in the church halls (and hopefully, the church grounds if the weather holds out!) from around 10am - 3pm. And best of all, it's FREE.

Living the Questions
Do you ever find yourself thinking about God, the universe and everything? Perhaps the Bible intrigues you, but you wonder why you can’t make sense of it all. Maybe you just enjoy chatting about issues of faith, spirituality, justice and peace with folk who, like you, realise they don’t have all the answers either.
If that sounds like you, then you might like to come along to Longniddry Parish Church on Monday evenings through the autumn (starting next month) to take part in our “Living the Questions” adult education course. LTQ offers participants excellent DVD resources, allowing Christianity to be explored from a liberal, progressive angle. No glib answers (we hope!), only searching questions and helpful pointers along the way. Oh yes – and coffee too.
More details to follow.
Winds of Change
Our friends at Christian Aid have tipped us off about an excellent-sounding roadshow that is coming to the West Church, Court Street, Haddington, on Tuesday 21st September between 7 and 9pm.
The “Winds of Change” tour is a chance to chat with Christian Aid staff, and hear about how we can work together to end extreme poverty. It also offers an excellent opportunity to find out about getting involved in the local work of Christian Aid through prayer, fundraising, volunteering and campaigning. Available on the night will be a wide range of Christian Aid resources for all ages.
Booking is advised for this event, so to claim your free place, simply ring the Glasgow office on 0141 221 7475, or drop an e-mail to email glasgow@christian-aid.org stating how many folk would like to come along.
Forth Valley Chorus Returns!
Getting ready for their big singing convention in Seattle this autumn, the Forth Valley Chorus will be stopping by Longniddry Parish Church for another of their brilliant concerts on Friday 24th September at 7.30pm.
Singing a cappella, barbershop style, these ladies of sweet, sweet harmony never fail to wow their audiences with their musicality, their moves and their witty banter. And on top of that, they are currently Sweet Adelines champions of the UK and Netherlands, so we know they’ll be great. On the night we’ll be wishing them well (especially Longniddry’s own Allyson Burnett, Marion Devlin and Bonnie Moore) before the choir competes in the world championships in the USA. Bring back the crown, that’s what we say!
Tickets cost £7.50 each (concessions: £5).
Well Done, Sharon!
Many congratulations to Sharon Montgomery, elder of Gladsmuir Parish Church, for having successfully completed the Church of Scotland’s selection process to become a ministry candidate. This involved Sharon in a placement at St Mary’s Haddington, plus many months of study at Edinburgh University with no fewer than six pieces of assessment (all of which she passed with flying colours).
It has been a long time since anyone from our charge has trained for the Church of Scotland ministry, so I am sure everyone in Gladsmuir and Longniddry will wish Sharon and family all the very best for the four years of her BD degree, and for her years of ministry to follow.
